A moth to the flame

A Moth to the Flame

Enticingly you beckoned me
As a candle dancing in the night,
Drawn nearer, your subtle warmth
Allures me nearer still

Erotically untempered, this dance evolves to be,
No thought of self, & less for me, the dance is all you see

I’ll find another flame with which
I may share the night,
For now I’ll wander in the dark
Still warm, your light in sight

Strenght Beyond Our Own

Strength Beyond Our Own

From foundation’s quivering form springs forth
A bud of last resort,
Though death so near, so void, so cold
Grips with pointed claw,
Life’s foundation must persist
Despite pressing weariness, to exist

Exerting strength of heart and soul
Unrecoverable if should fail,
This last effort to withstand
Night's oblivious kiss

A bud is born

Sun Kissed

Sun Kissed
A touch ignites a gentle glow
Warming even the core,
As if blood has flowed
Over hardened dragon’s bones,
Worn smooth as love’s impassioned embrace,
Ancient embers sink heavily through my skin

Healed

Healed
A thousand eyes, as many broken hearts
Encompassed by weighty shade,
Wander searchingly for Gilead’s Balm
Unaware of the Healer so near.

Why stare through thick shadows & weep in despair
Choking on death laden air,
One stands by without bandage to bind,
Bondage He will unbind,
For darkness will surely give way to such love
So pure, to faith so sure.

Pioneer's Rest

Pioneer’s Rest
I’m standing here by myself
Not alone, but in solitude,
The air I breathe is fresh and clean
Sparkling as it tingles through my head & in my chest,
My feet, rooted firmly to the earth,
Are still
Not from lack of adventure, for these feet have tirelessly trod
Through dirt & sand, forests & rivers,
My feet, though still,
Like raging waters rest
With the same passion with which they trod

So here I stand in weighted solitude,
Ethereal, granite laden silk infused into my bones,
The ferocious brilliance of a celestial star
Reflected in a pool

Baren Beauty

A cactus is rough
Quite unpleasant
Spears and swords protruding from the surface
A secret
Oasis beneath an unforgiving veneer
Destroying blows
Life is spilt and stolen
Precise, gentle influence
Refreshment flows
To look upon, it could never be guessed
What lies beneath the surface
